EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
To encourage and promote social, artistic and sporting activities outside of normal school hours we offer a broad range of after school activities. Each term a list of clubs is announced and pupils sign up for their choices. Please note the start and finish dates of the clubs vary and we reserve the right to cancel or amend these at short notice.
Extra-curricular activities and clubs are available to children in the school according to their age. These are organised by teachers. Teacher led clubs usually take place between 14:45pm and 15:45pm on Sunday through to Wednesday afternoon for pupils from Years 1-9. The clubs vary each term and school, but a typical selection might include: football, drama, dancing, basketball, ICT, art, lego, book club and choir.
BRITISH EXTRA-CURRICULUM
IRISH DANCING
The Irish Dancing Club learn a variety of Irish folk dances including the Reel, the Light Double Jig and the Single Jig. In addition, the children learn team dances where they work together in circles and other formations. To become a member of the school dance team, you must have an interest in folk music and enjoy helping others, as well as working together.
CHOIR
For anyone who has witnessed the signing choir in action, they will agree that they are amazing! Providing outstanding displays of songs through the use of sign language. If you ever have the opportunity to see them, it is surely not to be missed.
ATHLETICS CLUB
To help children improve on different disciplines within the athletics module. During their time in the club they will learn to have understanding of competitive roles within different disciplines i.e.
- Jumping
- Running
- Throwing
Along with improving good techniques on track and field events.
Each week the children are increasing their athletic stamina and fitness level, by challenging themselves to reach new heights - great fun for all involved!
BOARD GAMES CLUB
They don't make games like they used so this club intends to take children back to the good old days of the board game. Children will be playing classics like Connect 4, Scrabble and UAE games. This club will help with their strategic thinking and with games like Scrabble will also expand their vocabulary.
BASKETBALL CLUB
The Basketball Club runs once a week. The children will be given the opportunity to develop their knowledge, skill and understanding of the sport. The club encourages development in social, technical and physical aspects of basketball for all who attend.
FOOTBALL
This club will consist of drills and game scenarios to develop an understanding of football, as well as the skills that make up the sport. Please ensure appropriate footwear is worn during the club.
BOOK CLUB
We encourage a love of books and reading, particularly fiction. Held in the comfort of the school library, children will read together a chapter or two of a book and discuss the plot, characteristics and their feelings generally about the way the story is written. The club aims to help children improve their reading skills and literacy appreciation as well as to engender in them a love of reading for life.
ICT CLUB
ICT Club has been a very popular after school club, pupils meet in the ICT suite and are taught many ICT Skills which they then go on to use in a task, for example designing a poster or putting together a news sheet.
IRISH DANCING
Learn about the traditional irish dance and music. Learn the basic steps, including both soft reel steps and hard reel steps. Students learn different routines and how to follow the steps to the different rhythms and tempos of many irish tunes.
CHOIR
Choir focuses on learning how to sing as a group and an individual. We put an emphasis on getting the ‘basics’ right before singing full songs. There is an emphasis on training the ear. This results in better, more accurate singers, regardless of ability / talent.

ECO CLUB
We investigate ways in which ICS could be more eco-friendly. We aim to inform and advise learners, teachers and parents about living in a way that promotes a cleaner, safer and healthier environment.
SCHOOL STUDENTS CRESCENT GROUP
School student Crescent group is formed in the beginning of the school year every year, where the coordinators of volunteer management in the branches of the Authority go to schools located in the geographical scope of the branch of the Authority, and work on forming students Crescent groups in these schools. They shall be subjected to the necessary training courses such as first aid and international humanitarian law and introduced to the role of the Red Crescent. These groups are also invited to participate in Aoun's Award for Community Service launched by the Authority at the beginning of each academic year, which is an important initiative for the young people in the state schools.
GENIUS KIDS
Genius Kids Educational Centre provides classes at schools in Abu Dhabi & the United Arab Emirates. This is one of many services that the centre provides, which eliminates the need for parents to drop their children to the centre, and brings the program right to their schools. They have a highly qualified staff with extensive experience in the Mental Arithmetic Programs for students from 4-14 years old.
KEN KEN
Practice KenKen puzzles in preparation to KenKen Championship that is held yearly. “KenKen” is a grid-based numerical puzzle that uses the basic math operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division) whilst also challenging logic and problem-solving skills.
MATHS CHALLENGE
Uses challenges from the UK Mathematical Trust and gives pupils the opportunity to stretch their understanding through complex puzzles individually and as part of a team.
FOOTBALL
Football club increases the muscle mass and bone strength. It reduces body fat and improves concentration and coordination. It promotes teamwork, being social, and boosts confidence.
BASKETBALL
A club that promotes cardiovascular health, burns calories, builds bone strength, boosts the immune system, provides strength training, boosts mental development, develops better coordination and motor skills, and develops self-discipline and concentration.
SWIMMING
A sports club that helps students to learn how to swim. It strengthens muscles, maintains healthy weight, and builds strength.
GYMNASTICS
A club to maintain a healthy lifestyle by improving strength, flexibility, coordination and movement. It also helps students to socialise together and make new friends.
ZUMBA
Fitness club where students follow different dance routines on music that help them develop flexibility and rhythm.
NETBALL
A ball sport played by two teams of seven players. Each team attempts to score goals by passing a ball down the court and shooting it through its goal ring. Players are assigned specific positions, which define their roles within the team and restrict their movement to certain areas of the court.
ENGLISH CREATIVE WRITING
This creative writing club helps students to make their writing more exciting and descriptive. With practice, students will write their own short story that is both engaging and creative.
JOURNALISTIC WRITING
This journalistic writing club will help students to engage with non-fiction texts in order to develop their own writing. With practice, they will be able to create news articles that are appropriate in manner and tone.
SCIENTIFIC EXPERIMENTS
Scientific experiments club gives a great impetus to science learning. The scientific experiments club is the most congenial for the pupil talents. The purpose of the Science Club is
(1) To promote an interest in the sciences,
(2) To experience the sciences above and beyond the classroom setting,
(3) To provide career information, and
(4) To enhance the involvement of science.
French Lyrics et jeux dansés (Lyrics and dance games)
This club gives students from different year levels the opportunity to improve their French language by joining rounds, dances, rhymes and dancing games.

COMPUTER CODING
Creating simple games by coding in scratch. CS First is used to help students develop their abilities in block coding as well as monitor their progress through the different activities assigned.
LEGO AND ROBOTICS
LEGO Education provides the engaging, hands-on experiences students need to explore core STEM concepts and link them to real-life phenomenon. Solutions grow with students as they problem-solve and discover how Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math affect their everyday life.
PUZZLE
Puzzles require us to take different approaches to try and solve a problem since there’s a lot of trial and error involved. We also learn the value of formulating theories, testing hypotheses, and changing our perspectives when something doesn’t work out according to plan. Expect to solve all kinds of different puzzles in this club.
